What is contributed

If you enable contribution, MotionVector may send:

• segmentation and region data;
• relative motion and trajectory data;
• detected motion events, timing, and confidence values;
• video duration and limited processing settings, versions, checksums, and quality information;
• a temporary video-track fingerprint used only to create a keyed duplicate-detection value.

The raw duplicate-detection fingerprint is not stored. Contribution storage is intentionally not linked to your MotionVector account.

What is not contributed

• the source video;
• audio;
• the original filename;
• embedded EXIF, GPS, or other source-file metadata;
• your email address or MotionVector account identifier as part of the contribution dataset.

Derived data does not include the source video or the items listed above, but it is not guaranteed to be anonymous. Motion patterns and scene structure can still reveal information in unusual cases.

Good contributions

Good candidates are videos where:

• you recorded the footage, own it, or otherwise have permission to use it;
• the recording and intended contribution are lawful;
• motion is the useful part of the scene—camera movement, object movement, stability, trajectory, or segmentation;
• people and sensitive information are absent, incidental, or not the subject of the footage;
• you would be comfortable contributing a structural and motion representation of the scene.

Please do not knowingly contribute

• footage you do not have the right or permission to use;
• unlawfully recorded footage;
• videos where identifiable people—especially children—are the primary subject;
• private homes or interiors recorded without appropriate permission;
• footage intended to identify, follow, profile, or surveil a person;
• medical, financial, educational, authentication, identification, or similarly sensitive information;
• screens, documents, license plates, access codes, or other identifying details when they are central to the scene;
• precise sensitive locations where even structural or motion information could create a meaningful privacy or security risk.

If you are unsure, leave contribution off. Local motion analysis still works.

How MotionVector may use contributions

Contributions may be used to operate, test, evaluate, research, develop, and improve MotionVector and related motion-analysis technology, subject to the Terms of Use. MotionVector does not sell personal information or use contributions for third-party targeted advertising.

Before checking the box

Make sure the video is appropriate under these guidelines and that you have the rights and permissions needed to use it. The checkbox is specific to the current analysis; leaving it unchecked keeps the contribution workflow off.
